Continued from the evening edition of 15 September 2026. Prices below are frozen at publication — the live gold price has the current figure, and this guide covers what tends to move it.

Fed decision sets the tone

The Fed is the central thread in the headlines. TradingKey said spot gold returned above $4,300 as the rate decision proved key, while Yahoo Finance UK said markets were betting on a hike. KTVU and PBS also framed the decision around an expected rise in interest rates. Streamlinefeed.co.ke described an inflation test for Chair Warsh under Trump pressure, and NBC News said Trump and the Federal Reserve were on a collision course over rates. Diari ARA likewise cast the decision as a possible clash with Trump, while Free Malaysia Today said markets were on edge as the Fed met to tackle high inflation.

Yields and inflation stay in focus

Yield and inflation headlines added the cross-currents. Invezz said gold’s rally survived a yield surge and named Kevin Warsh as the next big catalyst. NewsCord said the U.S. 10-year Treasury yield hit its highest level since 2007 before the Fed decision, and finance.biggo.com said the 10-year yield topped 5% as FOMC hike odds surged. In.investing.com, citing Kedia Advisory in its headline, said gold prices eased as a crude-oil rally reinforced inflation and Fed rate-hike risks. Kitco said gold steadied as the Fed meeting began amid a Middle East oil shock, while Kitco’s PM Report said gold and silver settled lower as a Fed hike looked locked in.

Regional bullion trade is mixed

Regional bullion headlines were mixed but active. The Siasat Daily and thenorthlines.com both said gold futures rose on firm spot demand, and HDFC Sky also reported higher futures. Whalesbook said gold and silver rallied on MCX ahead of the Fed decision, while Business Standard said gold rose amid Fed rate-hike concerns and silver jumped. Oneworldnews.com reported that gold and silver prices rose in the bullion market. Against that, The Sunday Guardian said domestic gold prices in Vietnam fell further amid a global bullion-market decline, and NDTV said India’s gold rush was getting a reality check as prices fell from a record high.

Reserve moves remain in the background

Reserve movement and safe-haven framing remained in the background. Seeking Alpha asked why central banks were moving their gold reserves, and Crypto Briefing reported gold moved from the New York Fed to the Bank of England amid a China buying spree. Pluang described gold as the top safe haven in crises, while Coinpaper framed the debate as bitcoin versus gold during war and crises. These headlines do not explain the morning price move by themselves, but they show that reserve custody and crisis demand remain part of the broader gold conversation.

What to watch

  • Fed rate decision and Chair Warsh briefing, highlighted by Yahoo Finance UK and PBS.
  • Treasury-yield reaction after NewsCord and finance.biggo.com flagged pressure before the Fed.
  • Whether Indian futures strength cited by Siasat Daily and HDFC Sky carries into later trade.
  • Further reserve-custody headlines after Seeking Alpha and Crypto Briefing.
