Overnight slide in metals

Qazinform described a broad decline in gold and other precious metals, while Market Index referred to a metals selloff in its evening wrap. Moneycontrol.com said gold extended a two-week slide and fell below $4,200, adding that it was down 4.44% in a week. Newsquawk reported that spot gold dropped more than $20 an ounce in a minute with no obvious news catalyst, and said that move coincided with selling in silver. The XAUTicker feed showed the pressure continuing into this morning’s price snapshot.

Rates, dollar and yields dominate headlines

FXEmpire said Fed hike bets deepened the metals selloff, and CNBC said gold dropped more than 1% on U.S. rate-hike bets. The Economic Times said Fed tightening bets weighed on gold prices. FOREX.com said XAU/USD was hit as U.S. yields and the dollar resumed their ascent, while etnownews.com pointed to a strong dollar, rising yields and Fed rate-hike bets pushing bullion near a two-week low. TradingView also linked the drop to Fed bets and an oil-price shock.

Oil and Iran also in focus

Moneycontrol.com linked the move below $4,200 to a strong dollar and high crude. Invezz said gold crashed below $4,200 as an oil shock backfired, while financialexpress.com said gold and silver plunged 4% as falling Iran peace talks and a U.S. yield move triggered a selloff. Business Standard said gold slipped below ₹1.50 lakh on a U.S.-Iran impasse and that silver tumbled too. Those headlines put crude, yields and geopolitics alongside rate expectations in the morning narrative.

Data and policy shape the session ahead

The Economic Times said the Wall Street rally faces a fresh test as jobs and inflation data loom. FXEmpire framed its gold headline around 5% yields, a strong dollar and PCE ahead, while FXLeaders said XAU/USD had stabilized near $4,300 as PCE inflation and jobs data loomed. MillenniumPost said analysts expect bullion prices to face another choppy spell in a holiday-shortened week. Together, those headlines suggest traders are watching incoming U.S. data and rate expectations closely, rather than a single metals-specific event.

What to watch
