Rates dominate the morning narrative

Business Recorder and BusinessLine both tied the move to a hawkish stance from the Fed chief, while finance.biggo.com said that stance fuelled rate-hike bets. Investing.com reported that gold steadied after a sharp selloff as Warsh revived Fed hike bets, and The Business Times said gold held ground after a 3% drop on Warsh's hawkish stance. businessnewsthisweek.com framed the session as rate-hike fears overshadowing safe-haven demand. FXLeaders also linked the pullback to a jump in September Fed hike bets and noted NFP this week.

Selling pressure spreads

Outlook Money said gold and silver fell on MCX, and Livemint reported that gold and silver prices crashed up to 2% on MCX. TradingView said gold and silver ETFs tumbled up to 4% as US Fed rate-hike bets surged, naming Gold BeES and Silver BeES among top losers. In equities, 富途牛牛 linked broad declines in Hong Kong-listed gold stocks to a hawkish Federal Reserve stance and a drop in spot gold, while The Business Times linked CNMC Goldmine's fall to gold's tumble.

Support and risk markers

FXEmpire said the Jackson Hole sell-off was testing key support, and FXStreet said XAU/USD was battling key support amid renewed Iran and Fed hike risks. NDTV Profit said analysts were watching US jobs data and Iran tensions for fresh swings, while The Hans India and MillenniumPost reported expectations for volatility in September. On the other side of the narrative, Moomoo cited a Goldman Sachs trading-desk view that gold's rally may slow but that the “currency depreciation trade” is not over, and CNBC TV18 said analysts still see room for a year-end rally.

What to watch

  • FXLeaders' NFP-this-week framing and NDTV Profit's US jobs-data focus.
  • Fed-rate headlines, including Warsh-related coverage from Investing.com and The Business Times.
  • Iran-risk references in FXStreet and NDTV Profit headlines.
  • Whether ETF and MCX weakness cited by TradingView, Outlook Money and Livemint broadens.
