Founders Metals’ parallel hit: 54 m at 8.45 g/t extends Suriname’s Froyo zone
Founders Metals reports 54.0 metres of 8.45 g/t gold from a new parallel structure at its Antino project in Suriname, plus a down-dip extension and a near-surface hit.
While the gold price consolidates, exploration companies are still drilling — and some are hitting. Founders Metals reported on 7 October that a new hole at its Antino project in Suriname cut 54.0 metres grading 8.45 grams of gold per tonne, on a structure that runs parallel to the zone it has been drilling until now. The release covers 16 holes and 5,809 metres of drilling; the figures below are the company’s own.
The results
| Hole | Intercept | Note |
|---|---|---|
| FR256 | 54.0 m @ 8.45 g/t Au | From 303.0 m; new parallel structure |
| incl. | 24.0 m @ 17.42 g/t Au | Higher-grade core of the intercept |
| FR256 (second zone) | 11.0 m @ 3.59 g/t Au | Extends the FR249 zone ~75 m down-dip |
| FR264 | 16.5 m @ 4.21 g/t Au | Near surface |
| FR249 (earlier) | 28.0 m @ 14.27 g/t Au | The prior hit, ~100 m west of the new structure |

How to read a drill result
A drill intercept has two numbers: how long a stretch of rock the hole cut, and how much gold it carried per tonne. Multiplying them gives a rough sense of size — 54 m at 8.45 g/t is about 456 gram-metres, which is a strong result by any standard. Three caveats apply to every result like this:
- Drilled length is not true width. If a hole crosses a zone at an angle, the intercept is longer than the zone is thick. Founders reports these as down-hole lengths and estimates true widths at about 75% of them; grades are uncapped.
- One hole is not a deposit. It takes many holes, close together, before anyone can estimate a mineral resource.
- This is the company’s own announcement. Explorers publish their best results prominently; it is their job to.
Why a parallel structure matters
The new hit sits about 100 metres east of FR249, the earlier hole that cut 28.0 m at 14.27 g/t. Finding a second mineralised structure alongside the first means the system may be wider than a single zone — and the same hole also extended the original zone about 75 metres deeper. Together with the near-surface intercept in FR264, it points to a system that, in the company’s words, remains open. Founders plans step-out drilling for the rest of 2026, and the release notes strategic backing from Gold Fields, one of the world’s larger gold producers.
The Guiana Shield
Suriname sits on the Guiana Shield, a gold-bearing region that already hosts producing mines such as Merian and Rosebel in Suriname. High gold prices make exploration money easier to raise and make discoveries more valuable — the same backdrop driving deals like Fortuna’s Senegal acquisition. Whether Antino becomes a mine depends on years of drilling, studies and permitting. Nothing here is a recommendation about any company.
